Terms and Conditions

Effective from August 31st 2026, until further notice. These terms replace all previous versions.

Academic Calendar

The music school year runs from 31st August 20256, following the current school calendar.
There are 42 teaching weeks in the year, plus additional make-up days, as shown on the school calendar. These make-up days are available for:

• Direct Debit lesson make-ups

• Block Lessons if agreed between the student and the tutor

For Students Paying by Direct Debit

• Students paying weekly by Direct Debit are entitled to a maximum of 42 lessons per year, scheduled during our open weeks.

• With full attendance, all 42 lessons will be completed by August 2nd. (For Friday and Saturday students, the final lessons will be on August 6th and 7th respectively.)

• Direct Debit payments are spread over 12 equal monthly payments, from September to August.

• You will receive an email confirmation of your payment each month.

Lesson Flexibility:
Lessons may be taken in advance in special circumstances (e.g. exam preparation or long planned absences), with the time taken off later as time in lieu.

Make-Up Lessons

The following terms apply to students who pay by direct debit and also students who have purchased term blocks through a tax free childcare account.

• All missed lessons must be cancelled through the student portal (MyMusicStaff), all make up lessons must also be booked through the student portal.

• If the lesson is cancelled through the student portal with less than 24 hours’ notice, the lesson will be charged for and no make up credit is issued.

• If the lesson is cancelled with more than 24 hours notice then you will be allocated a make up credit. You can then use this credit to book in an additional lesson to make up for the missed lesson. You can find available spaces to book in the additional lesson by looking on the calendar section of the student portal. We request that the tutors make reasonable efforts to make themselves available for make-up lessons, subject to their availability.

• Rearranged lessons:

  • May be with the regular tutor or another available tutor

  • May be held online if suitable

⚠️ Please Note: If a student is unable to complete all make-up lessons within the school year, the remaining lessons cannot be carried over and will be forfeited.

Group Classes (Band & Stave House)

• These run for 42 weeks per year.

• Make-up sessions are not available for missed group classes unless the tutor is absent.

• Missed group sessions will not be refunded.

Fortnightly Direct Debit Students

• Entitled to 21 lessons per year

• Subject to the same terms as weekly students

Cancellation Policy (Direct Debit Students)

To cancel your place at AS Music School, we require one full month’s written notice, emailed to info@asmusicschool.com, by the 1st of the previous month.

Example: To stop lessons from October, notice must be given by September 1st.

For Students Paying by Blocks of 10 Lessons

• Lessons are purchased in 10-week blocks, paid in advance.

• Renewal reminders will be sent—failure to renew on time may result in losing your time slot.

• No refunds or discounts are available for students leaving partway through a block.

• Lessons must be cancelled directly through the student portal.

• Lessons cancelled with more than 24 hours notice will not be charged for, lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged.

Group Lessons (Paid in Blocks)

• Includes singing groups, ukulele groups, folk groups, etc.

• Make-up sessions are not available for missed group classes unless the tutor is absent.

• Missed group sessions cannot be made up and will not be refunded.
